Archives for March 2012

Hello all! We have finally crawled out of the hole of illness that we have been living in for the past month or so. Last weekend we took Benny to the doctor, and due to his low blood oxygen we started on breathing treatments. On Monday, he went to the doctor again and they put him on an antibiotic for a possible sinus infection. Craig was diagnosed with an ear infection which is getting better and I finally feel human again after several weeks battling my sinus infection. Somewhere along the way Conner and Abby both missed some school due to various illnesses. Whew! Hopefully we all stay healthy for a while.

We have really been enjoying the nice weather here for the past few weeks. Today it was about 80 degrees with no wind. We took the babies for a walk and enjoyed the sunshine! I think some fresh air helps all of us feel better. It's so nice for the babies to get out of the house and experience some nature!

Hadley is her busy little self, and she started crawling and standing up this week. I think our days are numbered before she starts walking. She is one determined little girl! Benjamin might not be far behind....the past few days he has been getting up on his hands and trying to get into crawling position. We have some baby-proofing to do! We have a baby gate up so that they can't fall down the stairs, and we are trying to remember to keep the bathroom door closed. We just need a few cabinet locks and we should be good to go.

One more milestone that I am very excited about is that we have switched both babies over to formula (which means I can stop pumping soon)! We have enough frozen breast milk so that we can mix the bottles 50/50 and that should get them through until they are a year old. I started eating dairy products again a few months ago and it hasn't bothered them a bit, so we went with a milk-based formula (which is cheaper than the alternative). I am very happy that they had breast milk for 8 months, which is a pretty big accomplishment for twins! I'm very ready to quit and I'm hoping that in a week or two I'll be completely done. I'm taking it slow to ease the discomfort. They even slept all night long last night....from 7:30pm to 6:30 am! Hopefully that continues....I would be SO thrilled to get a few solid nights of sleep.

Both babies are doing great with their baby food and they will eat pretty much anything these days....even Hadley! They usually have cereal and fruit or vegetables for every meal, and today they had yogurt for the first time. They both really like it! Hadley loves anything with apples in it, and Benjamin just loves food in general. We have been trying to give them Cheerios and cut up bananas, but Hadley immediately throws everything on the floor. Benny picks them up and gets them in his mouth, but gags on anything that isn't pureed. We will keep trying!

Here are a few pictures from the past week. They are getting to be SO much fun! We are so very blessed to have these perfect little babies.

Benny is such a happy little guy!

So pretty. Love those little teeth!

Ben and Hadley love each other (most of the time)!

I looked over and saw this happening yesterday. Little stinker!

Ben is such a little cutie. Love him!

Every kid loves a box.

Our little rock star.

As the title indicates, we have been battling a plague-like illness for the past two weeks. It started with little Hadley, who seems to have had 3 different bugs over the past 2 weeks. She ran a fever the first weekend, then she had no fever but horrible diarrhea, then she had a fever with a cough. She has been well since Tuesday, and has been going to daycare. She is back to her curious self. Benny started running a fever on Tuesday, and he had a horrible croupy cough with it. One night he was having trouble breathing, so we spent some time outside in the cold air which helped open his airways so that he could catch his breath! A humidifier has helped. He went to daycare on Monday but has been home ever since. I came down with the plague on Wednesday, and by Friday I felt like I was going to die! I tried to stay home with Benny but I had to call Craig....I could barely lift little Benny. I spent most of the day in bed yesterday. I think I'm feeling better today....but I'm definitely not 100%. I showered, so that's a big step!

Needless to say, Craig and I both missed a lot of work last week. I was at work on Tuesday, and then 1/2 day on Thursday. Hopefully next week is better. I'm trying to finish up a lot of projects and reports before I move into my new role on March 16. Time is flying!

Other than constant illness, things are going okay. Hadley is starting to pull herself up on toys and things, so I think it's only a matter of time before she is completely mobile. She is one very determined little girl! She is such a cutie. Benny is happy sitting and playing....and jumping in the jumparoo!! He doesn't roll over at all, but he is a really good sitter and he has mastered the task of picking up his binky and putting it in his mouth. He is such a happy little guy. Even when he is sick he always has a smile for us. What a trooper.

Hadley quit eating her baby food about 2 weeks ago (when she started getting sick) and we are slowly getting her to eat again. She would just clamp her little mouth shut and refuse to eat anything at all! She has started eating a few things like apples and pears. Hopefully we can get her to eat a few vegetables, but at this point I'm happy with anything! Ben is still a baby food disposal. He eats everything and a lot of it!

One last bit of news, we are so happy to welcome our little Swiss God-Daughter Addilyn Marie Haas! Addilyn was born on March 1 and she weighed 7.3 pounds and she is just perfect! Congratulations to Haley and Thomas for creating such a beautiful little girl! We have to wait until July to meet her, but we get to see lots and pictures and it will make it that much more exciting when July comes. Yippee!!

In my delirium I think I managed to take a few pictures. Of course I'll steal a picture of Addilyn from Haley's blog so that we can show off our cute little niece!

Benny loves computers just like his daddy!

Poor little Hadley...not feeling very well.

More fun in the laundry baskets!

Hadley is so pretty...even with a runny nose!

Another more subtle Hadley photo bomb moment.

Hadley decided that she loves her swing again! Such a cutie!

Just hanging out in our jammies!!

Hadley is surveying the territory in preparation for crawling.

And here is our beautiful little niece, Addilyn! A new cousin for Ben and Hadley (Conner and Abby, too!)
